"Onsite" Uncertainty

“Any news?” my colleagues and I used to ask each other every morning. Onsite opportunity is such a thing that cannot be managed like the “opportunity management” being practiced in the industry. And this onsite had reasons to get one into dreams – the place was California.

Every one was waiting for the news after our manger’s first client meet. But things were uncertain even at this stage – or were being made uncertain was my obvious doubt. Everyday new things popped up, building our eager to be at the client site.

The news finally broke out. Four out of the six team-members were selected and asked to make arrangements to leave for the assignment. There was a big smile on their face with the four-mates enjoying their time - they really deserved it. But for the fifth one who was left out with me had tough time, as was seen from his expressions.

I, on the other hand, was not at all grieved to hear the news of having lost the chance to go to California. The only grief I had was that along with the onsite chance I had lost the opportunity to take a tour to Sikkim with my friend the man and others, the coming October.

I recall one hindi kahaavat - dhobi ka kutta na ghar ka na ghaat ka !
