Feeling proud of ones own country

Last weekend I attended a lecture from Prasad Chikse, member of the Vision 2020 comitee led by our current president Dr.Abdul Kalam. In his presentation, based on the facts supported by statistical data, he revealed the potential India has in different sectors ranging from Agriculture to Atomic energy. During the speech he illustrated an example of how the Japanese people have pride in the commodities their country produce and how much do they care to save a blame on it.

Prasad was associated with one of the social organisations in Kanyakumari and was located there as a part of his activity. One day while he was standing against the statue of Swami Vivekananda, he saw two young Japanese men passing by and staring at the awesome statue. These Japanese were equipped with highly advanced cameras and lenses. Prasad requested these Japanese men to take a few photographs of the statue. The Japanese men agreed to Prasad's request but with one condition. They said,"If we get good photographs you have to say that these were taken by a Japan made camera; while if they fall to meet the expectations, you say that these were taken by a young Japanese".

Do we, Indians, have the same attitude? Do we take such pride in what India deliver to the world?
